How do I capture an image that expresses what I feel? Imagery is everywhere. It is easy to capture something. Find out how your own creative potential and path of discovery can be expressed by photographic practise.
Start with your own creative exploration and then be gently guided through the technical aspects of digital and film photography including basic darkroom craft as an aid to realise your exploration. Content:
Demonstration and practice of the features and usage of film and digital cameras. Digital work flow from camera to photoshop will be covered. Black and white darkroom craft (developing and printing). Technique and practice of lighting and exposure using studio and ambient light. Compositional techniques with emphasis on balance and framing. Conception, visualisation or exploration? Personal investigations into meaning and content.
Objectives:
* Individual exploration of captured photo imagery
* Introduction to basic black and white darkroom craft (developing and printing)
* Introduction to the visual language of photography, composition and the value of colour
Outcomes:
The ability to translate an ideal or vision into a photographic reality using the acquired technical skills and creative inspiration learned from this class.
