Description
Learn one of the oldest forms of moving image field and discover how to move images through time! This will be a chance to do some basic animation and discover what you can create, very quickly and simply. You will begin by making flip-books to play with speed and movement - super short animations which can be played as a loop... and get to make a little mess too! After that you will write a short script and animate your own story using I stop motion on the computer. So, if you like to draw and paint or play with wild objects and you would like to see them move?? ...then this class is for you! Suitable for all levels.

Content:
* Make Flipbooks to explore movement over time
* Make basic loops
* Scan and introduction to editing basic stop-motion
* Some digital animation with text
* Storyboard a short animated movement and complete the art for it
* Collect sound and edit it with animation to complete a finished work and learn some basic editing skills

Objectives:
To: -
* Introduce some basic stop-motion animation skills
* Explore movement and learn a bit about manipulating and controlling it
* Work through a basic video project from conception to completion

Outcomes:
* A basic knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of stop-motion animation
* Basic editing skills

Required materials

    cdr/rws or dvdr/rws will be required for backing up and archiving of finished work (cdr and dvdr are available from the materials office or computer room)

Cost to student
* $5 - $15 for printing during the term if required * $1 - 2 for each CDR or DVD for archiving of finished work
